THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, West Sacramento, Calif. — Luis Urías's walkoff, two-run homer in the bottom of the 10th inning gave the Athletics a 3-2 victory over the Chicago White Sox and the A’s second-straight winning series at Sutter Health Park.
Urías took pitcher Jordan Leasure (0-2) first pitch for a ride after Luis Robert Jr.’s drove in a run at the top of the 10th inning to give the White Sox a 2-1 margin. Urías, 27, signed a one-year deal with the A’s in February.
The A’s celebrated with Urías at home plate and drenched him in Gatorade after his blast over the left field wall. The homerun was his only hit in the game, where he had three attempts at the plate.
The A’s finished the series with a 2-1 advantage, their second since going 2-1 against the Texas Rangers from April 22-24 at SHP. Urías’s hit was the first walk-off homer for the A’s at the Triple-A park.
It was the second walkoff hit in the matter of three days for the A’s. Shortstop Jacob Wilson had a run-batted-in off a single to beat the Texas Rangers 4-3 on April 24. The A’s climb to 14-14 on the season overall, 8-5 on the road, and 6-9 at Sutter Health Park.
The A’s are two games out of first place, trailing the Seattle Mariners (16-12) in the American League West. They now travel to play the Rangers for a three-game series that starts on April 28.
