THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, Oakland, Calif. —

.Klay Thompson makes a put-back layup with 5.8 seconds left to in the game to give the Golden State Warriors a hard-fought 117-116 victory over the Sacramento Kings on Saturday.

.Marvin Bagley III’s tip layup on the Kings’ next possession was lodged between the rim and backboard that forced a jump ball with 0.3 seconds remaining. Kevin Durant tipped the ball to Buddy Hield as time expired.

“Man, I wanted it so bad...it didn’t fall,” Bagley said after the game. “I saw Buddy driving and at the moment, it looked like he was trying to go and score. So I was just trying to get position, get the rebound, and go up. It just didn’t go my way."

.Durant had 44 points, 13 rebounds, seven assists and two blocked shots for the Warriors (14-7). Thompson finished with 31 points and four rebounds. Thompson also made five 3-point shots. Thompson and Durant made 25 of 52 shots from the field.

“Those guys are really carrying the load offensively,” Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said of Durant and Thompson. “Kevin was just amazing. There were so many possessions that we were just dead in the water and he bailed us out late.”

.Hield had 28 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and one blocked shot for the Kings (10-9). Hield missed a driving finger-roll lay up that led to Bagley’s failed put back towards the end of the game. Bagley had 20 points, 17 rebounds, and two assists in nearly 34 minutes off the bench.

Golden State own a 4-1 recond in the second game of back to backs this season. The Warriors were still without the service of Stephen Curry (left groin strain) and Draymond Green (right toe sprain). Damian Jones had 13 points, six rebounds, and one assists for the Warriors.

The Warriors have won 19 of their last 23 matchups against the Kings. Saturday’s game were the first time they meet this season. It’s not the way the story should go, but the Kings looked really good in what could be termed as a good loss.

“You never want to lose. Can’t ever be comfortable with losing or accept losing,” Bagley said. “But we played a great game, both teams went on (their) runs, and we hung in there. We can fix a lot of things that we we were doing wrong out there and I think we will. Nobody likes losing but it’s definitely a learn process and learning curve for us moving foward.”
